All below shops are in
walking distance from the house and can provide you
with soap, toilet paper, bear, soft drinks and a
selection of snack and food. The largest local shop
is the one in the upper right cornet of the below
map. In case you look for international food, please
see the next section. Please be aware of that local shops and
restaurants does not accept credit cards so you will need cash
most of the time.
Both BigC and Tesco Lotus
holds an excellent selection with fresh fish,
vegetables, meat, milk, juices, cheese and most of
your needs. The closest one is BigC. Here you will
also find an excellent Chinese
restaurant called MK. As liquor is not allowed to be
sold between 1 and 5 PM in the shops, maybe an
evening trip to BigC with shopping and dining is a
suggestion. In case you have a car, you drive
northbound on 2180 to you hit the main road. Then
turn right. After a total of 15kms you will reach
BigC on the right side of the road. In case you do
not have a car, you may use the minibus or taxi
service, see menu in the upper left corner. Lotus is inside
Chaiyaphum town. See map in the restaurants section
for Lotus location.
The Chicken Fighting
place and Thai restaurant is open every Sunday and then
there is chicken fight here. This is very popular and you
will see hundreds of people there! They also have a Thai Food
and bar (See image on the left) The place is driven by a
nice family that does not speak any English, but they do
have an image menu. The distance from the house is 2 km.
We
have not tried the Korean food place, see image
to the right, as the restroom facility is really
not according to our standards. However, in case
you have a robust stomach you can have a very
cheap evening and the couple running the place
is very nice. This place is in walking distance.
The nodule place
(left) is a place where you can buy a nodule soup for
25 Bath during the daytime. Not open in the
evenings. They also provide take-away so you
can bring back to the house. Order chicken
(Kai) or pig (Mo) and show fingers for number
of soups!
We are very happy
that we have got a proper Korean restaurant with tap beer
and it is very clean and driven by a couple that has been
working in Korea as a chef. This is really a nice place!
Chaiyaphum
city, 27kms away from the house has a number of
good places to eat. First, you have Tesco
Lotus which in addition to be a hypermarket
has a food court. As all of them have pictures
of the food, there is no problem to order
food.
Next to
Tesco you have an extremely large
Korean/Karaoke food place which always has
guests and an English menu. You barbeque the
food on the table, and it is quite enjoying.
The
Korean pavilion is focusing only on food and
here the food is better. They do not have a
English Menu so inviting the driver for
translation and of cause give him a free meal
pays off.
The bear hall and live band place always have
very good bands and is completely full on
weekends. You order food and drinks by the
table and have fun with the surrounding
guests. They will be trilled when meeting
white people!
In case you really want European or Chinese
food, the Riverside Hotel is the place. For
those who stay up all hours, the Thai Bus
station is a funny place to eat where you meet
those who really do not want to sleep.
The
Noen Sanga Resort has small cottages with
bathroom, shower, air-condition, satellite
TV, fishing, water jet and fun boats. It is
a very nice resort only 6 kms from the
house. Use the full day minibus or taxi
service and enjoy this place. Bring the food
and drinks you need. The fee for entrance
and stay-over is 600 Bath pr. two persons.
As the place is extremely difficult to find,
we recommend using Taxi or Minibus service
to get there.
Every night
at 6 PM a free Aerobics class is provided
at the location given on the map below.
Also, on the map you will find the office
of the local nurse that can assist with
any smaller or serious issues. Her name is
Tang and she is very friendly and always
smiling. She can also help you with
hospital or other needs if you in the rare
case should need that.
The
very nice Wat (temple) by the water is
open and welcome anybody that want to view
or to enter to speak with the monks. Some
of the monks even speak English. They
locate in very nice building and also runs
a botanic garden.

Three nine-hole layout are
featured here. Set in beautiful rolling countryside, this
undulating terrain needed little landscaping to make it a
superb test of golf. Distances are short, but the narrow
fairways and judicious placement of water and sand demands
accuracy. Varied fairway
lies need care, especially on approaches to the
well-bunkered greens. It is possible to make the trip from
the house in the morning, play a round in the afternoon and
return to the house in the evening. Service inside the
pleasant clubhouse is friendly. Those who play golf at this
course will not be disappointed.
On
the misty mountains near Khao Yai National
Park provide a spectacular backdrop to the
undulating fairways. There are five sets of
tees and the course is a tough test at 7,058
yards from the back tees. The course is
beautifully maintained. There are some
difficult dog-leg holes, especially the par
five second and twelfth. There is a palatial
clubhouse with wonderful views. The resort
hotel is of five-star standard. The average
temperature is always 7 degrees Celsius
lower than elsewhere in the area.
This
is a very pretty inland course surrounded by
mature woodland. From the blue tees the par
fours are challenging and the layout is a
fair test for most handicap group. Approach
shots to the rather small greens are made
easier as the threes in the background
assist the player in judging the distance.
There is a golf lodge at the course and the
clubhouse facilities are good. This is an
ideal place for families to stay amidst the
beautiful countryside.

This
beautiful golf course set in the Khao Yai
Mountains has five different tee boxes to
choose from. The course rewards smart course
management and punishes errant shot making.
Expansive contouring, pristine lakes and a
wide variety of bunker styles and shapes
give each hole a new and exciting challenge.
The greens tend to be slick and three
putting is common. The added bonus of
playing golf here is that there is usually a
breeze. Clubhouse facilities are good,
including two swimming pools, but there is
no hotel on site.

The
course here follows the natural contours of
the terrain, taking advantage of a mountain
rimmed valley. Set in pleasant rolling
countryside the course is often pleasantly
breezy. Designer Ronald Fream has provided
some challenging tee shots, particularly the
10th, blind over a valley and across the
face of a hill. The clubhouse overlooks a
lake and facilities are geared to suit all
the family. Accommodations are also
available.
This
is a great place for kids! This is both a Zoo, and a water
amusement park. Zoo is maybe something you not visit
everyday, but my kids just love water, and here they can
find many kids off the same age to play together with. Below
you will see a few pictures from the park. It is open from
9AM to 5PM. Please bring money in cash as the do not take
credit cards.
To drive to the Zoo and water amusement park, you first
drive to Chaiyaphum City Centre.
Then you drive 2051 North for
5 kms and turn left into 2159 for 2.8 kms. Then its a
smaller road to the left that leads you there. The GPS
coordinates are
+15° 51' 18.64", +101° 59' 23.76". The
entire drive may take you 25-30 minutes depending on the traffic.
